Set in East Durham, the gem of the Irish
Catskills, the Banjo Burke Festival has
celebrated the life and music of Joe
“Banjo” Burke and the vibrant traditional
musical scene of New York City and the
beautiful Catskill mountains since 2007.
The festival celebrates Irish traditional
music (instrumental and song) and ceili
dancing, pure and sweet. The weekend is
packed full of music and ceili and set
dance workshops, concerts, ceilithe, and
traditional music sessions.
Parkinson’s disease. The last seven
years of his life were a devastating
series of losses of all the abilities that
had meant so much to him. He
passed away at the age of 57.
We have started Banjo Burke
Memorial Fund to honor Joe’s memory
by supporting Parkinson’s Research
and Irish traditional arts and sports.
Donors may specify which purpose
they wish to support.
